“One does not live on bread alone, but on  the very word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”

“You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.”

“The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve” (Matthew 4:1-11).

Jesus is led by the Spirit, into the desert where he fasts for forty days and nights. It is when he is hungry the tempter comes to challenge Him. Even though Jesus was hungry and parched he found sustenance in the Word of God. It was His strength to ward off the tempter.
