“Peter turned and saw John. When he saw him Peter asked Jesus, ‘Lord, what about him?’ Jesus said to Peter, ‘What if I want him to remain until I come? What concern of it is yours? You Follow Me’ (St. John 21:20-23).
Perhaps Peter was concerned for John’s well-being and wanted to know what would happen to him. Perhaps Peter wanted to know if he would have a better fate, as if somehow by asking Peter’s would change. Jesus’ response cuts to the point. Don’t worry about him. You Follow Me.
You follow me. It’s as if the backdrop disappears and Jesus is standing in front of you, looking you straight in the eye, hand outstretched seeking the warm grasp of yours as he beckons, “You Follow Me”.
Don’t follow anyone else or anything else. It is a perfect ending to the Gospel. You follow me because…I am the way, and the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
There are two roads. The world’s way which is wide and unwieldy or the holy way – a narrow road plainly laid out. A road that ends near heaven’s gate and the glory of God.
Follow Jesus.

Just wrote something about Peter on my drafts. I kinda find this part funny because just a minute before that, Jesus was redeeming him, asking him “do you love me?” three times. I guess he just envied John because he thought Jesus was testing him with the three same questions, but not John. Well, he had his own moment afterwards when he brought three thousand souls to God.
